Laurie got an early start in
photography in the fourth grade using an old roll film camera her dad
had given her. In high school her talent became obvious as she honed
her skills in her darkroom, winning photographic contests. With her
father's continued encouragement (as well as his new 35mm camera,)
Laurie continued her studies at commercial photography school. That
valuable educational opportunity led to her current twenty-seven year
career as a commercial photographer for an internationally distributed
catalog company.
Laurie has always shared her
heart and her home with animals, notably dogs and horses. She has
spent many years training and showing both, meeting special people and
animals along the way. It was only natural for her to use them as
frequent subjects. In 1993 she opened her own studio where she
specializes in dog and pet portraits. Sometimes she takes the studio
on the road with her so she can accommodate customers who can't get to
her studio or live out of state. Laurie Erickson photographs have
been published in calendars and books and are sought after as
references by various talented artists. She captures more than the
likeness of her subjects; she gets their heart and spirit, to the
abject delight of their human friends.
